High-quality DMX512 decoder with 4 channels x 8A output per channel, perfect for controlling RGBW LED tape. Ideal for standard lighting applications, offering reliability and ease of use. For higher-spec requirements, consider our 5-channel 16-bit DMX512 controller.

Product Description:

The DMX512 4CH x 8A Decoder LED Controller is designed to receive standard DMX-512 signals and convert them into PWM signals for effective LED control. Connect this cost-effective decoder to a digital DMX console and DMX module to achieve smooth dimming and various lighting effects.

Key Features:

Type: DMX Decoder

Voltage: DC 12 - 24V

Current: 4 channels x 8A (maximum per channel, total current across all channels should not exceed 12A)

Power: Up to 192W per channel at 24V, with a maximum of 288W for all 4 channels combined at 24V. At 12V, each channel can handle up to 96W, with a maximum of 144W for all 4 channels combined.

Output Grayscale: 256

Connecting Mode: Common anode

Working Temperature: -20°C to 60°C

Material: Metal

Item Weight: 352g

Item Size: 16.5 x 7 x 4 cm / 6.49 x 2.75 x 1.57 inches (L x W x H)

Warranty: 3 years (assuming loading instructions are met)

Usage Guidelines:

While each channel can support up to 8A individually, the combined current for all four channels should not exceed 12A in total.

At 24V, each channel can handle up to 192W, but when using all four channels, the total power should not exceed 288W.

At 12V, each channel can handle up to 96W, but when using all four channels, the total power should not exceed 144W.

It is recommended to operate at 20% below the maximum current to ensure longevity and stability.

Ensure proper ventilation when running at higher currents to avoid overheating.

If loading close to the maximum value of 12A, ensure your common anode (+) is connected directly from the power supply to the load and in parallel through the controller. Remember, the 12A common anode will pass through one wire, unlike the four negative wires of channels 1 to 4 that split the total current.

DIP Switch Settings Instructions:

  1. DMX Address Code Settings: Each DMX common controller occupies 4 DMX addresses. The DIP switches 1-9 are used to set the DMX starting address. These switches represent a binary value:

    • Switch 1 = 1
    • Switch 2 = 2
    • Switch 3 = 4
    • Switch 4 = 8
    • Switch 5 = 16
    • Switch 6 = 32
    • Switch 7 = 64
    • Switch 8 = 128
    • Switch 9 = 256

Combine these values to set the desired DMX address. For example, to set the DMX address to 37:

    • Turn on switches 1 (value 1), 3 (value 4), and 6 (value 32). The sum of these values is 37 (1+4+32).
  2. Functions Direction for Use:

    • Switch 10 (labeled as "Fun"):

OFF: Standard DMX mode.

ON: Activates a built-in function. DMX signal can be received when "Fun" is set to OFF.

  1. Colour and Effect Settings:

    • Switch 1-9 can also be used to select pre-defined colours and effects:

Switch 1 = Red

Switch 2 = Green

Switch 3 = Blue

Switch 4 = Yellow

Switch 5 = Purple

Switch 6 = Cyan

Switch 7 = White

Switch 8 = Seven-colour switching effect (8 steps speed)

Switch 9 = Seven-colour gradual changing (8 steps speed)

  1. Speed Choice of Switching and Gradual Changing Effects:

    • Use switches 1-7 to set the speed of the switching and gradual changing effects:

Switch 1 = 1 step

Switch 2 = 2 steps

Switch 3 = 3 steps

Switch 4 = 4 steps

Switch 5 = 5 steps

Switch 6 = 6 steps

Switch 7 = 7 steps (fastest speed)

Example:

To set the DMX address to 37 and enable a seven-colour switching effect at speed 3:

Turn on switches 1, 3, and 6 (address 37).

Turn on switches 8 and 3.

Note:

Ensure the power is off while setting the DIP switches. After setting the switches, power on the controller to apply the new settings.

Package Includes:

1 x DMX512 Decoder Set

Important Note: Please note that the PWM modulation frequency is not high enough for high-definition camera recording studios. This product is best suited for standard lighting applications.

For high-spec DMX controllers suitable for professional and studio use, consider our 5-channel 16-bit DMX512 Decoder Controller.

Whether you're setting up a basic lighting project or enhancing your home lighting, this DMX512 Decoder provides the functionality and quality you need at an affordable price.
